Ice rinks in Gdańsk and Sopot
Winter in the Tricity is not only about walks along snow-covered streets and hot tea in cafes – it’s also a great opportunity for active fun on the ice rink. Gdańsk and Sopot attract residents and tourists every year with atmospheric ice rinks that combine winter sports with seaside scenery.
🧊 Gdańsk Ice Rink – a classic in the heart of the city
In the very center of Gdańsk, at the Zebrań Ludowych square, one of the most well-known city ice rinks operates. The season usually starts in November, and in the 2025/2026 season the facility returns with a new look – instead of an inflatable “balloon” hall, there is a more comfortable tent structure that better protects against wind and precipitation.
What you should know:
the ice skating season lasts through winter – usually from late autumn to late winter;
the rinks operate in hourly sessions with technical breaks;
tickets usually cost about 20–25 PLN per hour, with discounts for children and families;
you can rent skates, and often also “penguin” scooters for beginners;
holders of the Resident Card have free entry once a year.
This is a great place both for families with children, as well as couples or groups of friends looking for winter entertainment in the city center.
❄️ 100cznia Ice Rink – a seasonal attraction with a view of the shipyard
A novelty in Gdańsk is the seasonal ice rink in the cultural space of 100cznia – a project known for summer gastronomic and social events. The facility operates from mid-December and impresses not only with ice skating but also with views of the shipyard cranes and a festive atmosphere by the bars and music.
Details:
opening hours mostly in the afternoons and evenings;
entries take place in 55-minute sessions;
a small fee for entry and skate rental (about 10 PLN).
It’s a good choice for those seeking a less “urban” atmosphere and who are not afraid of fresh air in an industrial setting.
🌊 SOPOT MOLO ICE RINK – ice skating with a view of the Bay
Sopot in the winter season offers something you won’t find in many other cities in Poland – an ice rink right next to the famous pier, with views of the sea and beach. This location attracts walkers and amateur skiers both during the day and after dark, when the ice is illuminated.
Key information:
the season usually starts on December 6 and lasts until the end of February;
the facility is open all week, divided into school and open sessions;
students of Sopot schools often can use the ice rink free of charge during designated hours;
ticket prices start at about 10 PLN for holders of the Sopot Card and about 15 PLN for others;
there is a skate, walker and helmet rental on site.
This is the perfect place for those who want to combine physical activity with a seaside walk and exceptional views.
🎿 Tips before going on the ice
Check the weather: ice rinks dependent on temperature (especially seasonal ones) may be closed during warm or rainy weather.
Book in advance: popular times, especially on weekends and holidays, tend to sell out.
Arrive early: skate rental points may have queues during peak hours.
Bring warm clothing: even if the sun is shining, the wind from the sea can be very sharp.
